Early days
Dave started sailing VJs (11 foot skiffs) on Port Phillip at the age of 15 and in 1982 bought a yacht "Marloo", the first L.Francis Herreshoff 28 built in the world which he worked on extensively before sailing to the Whitsundays in 1984 from Metung in the Gippsland Lakes, Victoria.
Eliana
After owning a "TopHat" 25, "Wayward Lady" Dave purchased a steel Adams 40 cutter which became named "Eliana" after his 2 daughters Ellie and Annabel. Eliana has taken him up and down the east coast of Australia several times, down to Tasmania and the South West Pacific including New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji and Vanuatu in 2007.
Around the world
In March 2013 he left Williamstown on a 2 year circumnavigation and after 3 years has done over 19000 miles and is currently in Panama planning to cross the Pacific in 2016. The total trip is now expected to take 4 years ! The trip is recorded in detail on Dave's blog.
HomeWhen not cruising Dave normally resides in Williamstown Victoria but satisfies his love of the Australian bush at his country property " Scrubby Creek", Humevale where he lived with his family.
