Sailor, singer, bush music entertainer, Austin Seven tragicThanks for looking at my website.
At the end of 2017 my good ship Eliana brought us safely back to Chinaman’s Creek, Metung, Victoria having sailed about 28,000 nautical miles around the globe after leaving in 2013. The trip was a long held childhood dream and ambition finally realised. Now happily back in wonderful Williamstown I’ve been getting my house, myself and my 1925 Austin Seven Chummy in order. Later a beautiful ,rare 1934 Comet Sports has taken up residence in my downstairs bedroom, I kid you not. In 2019 David Briggs , former lead guitarist and writer of the hit Lonesome Loser amongst others, remastered my two albums of sea songs plus a couple of songs from Songs of Australia to make ....Best of Down to the Sea Volumes 1&2...+...More Songs for Sailors and Armchair Adventurers. Also, from a 1973 studio tape from the Original Bushwackers and Bullockies Bush Band is a 9 track CD of the remastered cassette tape, never before released, to be titled “Vintage Bushwackers”. Since then I’ve been also busy running the Newport Bush Orchestra which was started by Greg O’Leary in 2006. We are a community group, part of Newport Folk Club and I have been cracking the whip and making us a viable bush dance and performance group specialising in Australian traditional songs amd tunes. The group is growing and members benefit from being of a community group while fostering and encouraging the love of folk music from our rich Anglo Celtic tradition. If you are interested in the world sailing circumnavigation, follow the sailing blog which now should be up to date and you can vicariously “sail around the world”from the comfort of your arm chair.
